Support for Methodist Students!

college students

Welcome to our friends at the North Central Jurisdiction Ignite Conference!

Paying for college is harder than ever. We are so glad you are interested in learning more about support the United Methodist Higher Education Foundation can offer students attending UM-related colleges, universities, and seminaries.

Who We Are

The United Methodist Higher Education Foundation’s grand vision is to make it financially possible for Methodist students to attend United Methodist-related schools. Annually, we award upwards of $2 million to more than 700 students.

UMHEF is a non-profit foundation supported by donors, organizational partners, and through managed endowment funds. (We are not affiliated with an agency of The United Methodist Church and do not receive apportionments from The UMC.)

Scholarship Opportunities

We invite you to learn more about the scholarship programs offered every year.

  • General Named Endowed Scholarships – traditionally competitive awards that consider GPA, school and community involvement, recommendations, etc. Amounts vary.
  • UM Dollars for Scholars – a matching program that begins with a $1,000 scholarship from your church and can grow up to $4,000 with support from UMHEF, UM schools, and UM conference foundations. Amounts vary.
  • Specialty Awards – including awards for students attending select HBCUs, seminaries, from diverse backgrounds, and more! Amounts vary.
  • Eligiblity: Open to members of The United Methodist Church, AME Church, AME Zion Church, and CME Church; if your church has disaffiliated from The UMC, you may also apply. Other eligibility requirements may apply.

What Scholars Are Saying

UMHEF Scholar, AmeliaAmanda Wiles is a recipient of a UMHEF General Named Endowed scholarship, currently in her junior year at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. “Thank you so very much for supporting my educational endeavors!,” she said in a recent note to UMHEF. “I LOVE Baker already and look forward to my continued journey of studying psychology, playing soccer, serving through my sorority, and exploring the many other options available at BU.” Her scholarship is not only helping her to pay for college, but to also connect with and serve her community.
