Welcome to our friends at the Black Methodists for Church Renewal annual meeting! We are so glad you are interested in learning more about support the United Methodist Higher Education Foundation offer students, including those attending UM-related historically Black colleges and universities.

About UMHEF Support

Students who plan to attend a United Methodist-related college, university, or seminary may be eligible for scholarships from UMHEF!

  • Applicants must be a member (for at least one year prior to applying) of The United Methodist Church, African Methodist Episcopal Church, AME Zion Church, or Christian Methodist Episcopal Church; if your church has disaffiliated from The UMC, you may also apply for consideration.
  • Read more about eligibility requirements.
  • Award amounts vary and are not guaranteed.
  • Students must reapply every year to be considered.
  • Applications are typically open January 1 – March 1 for the following academic year.

Meet UMHEF Scholar, Julia!

UMHEF alum, Julia T.Julia Tippen graduated in 2023 from Dillard University in New Orleans, LA with the help of scholarships from UMHEF during three years of her studies!

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and currently serves students as an undergraduate admissions counselor for Southern Methodist University, another UM-related institution in Dallas, Texas.
