UMHEF Welcomes New Trustees

The United Methodist Higher Education Foundation Board of Trustees recently welcomed three new members. We invite you to learn a little about Mr. Glenn Andrew, Mr. Bill Good, and Rev. Lisa Garvin. Please continue to keep all UMHEF trustees in your prayers as they serve together to boldly carry out the vision of the foundation to make higher education financially possible for students attending United Methodist schools.

 

Mr. Glenn Andrew

UMHEF Trustee, Glenn AndrewGlenn Andrew is retired from a 30+ year career as an electrical engineer in the defense industry with frequent interim domestic and international assignments. He has a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He and his wife have been residents of Kerrville, TX for more than nineteen years where they are members of Kerrville First UMC. He serves or has served on numerous church committees, the Texas Methodist Foundation Presidents Advisory Committee, the Kerrville Public Utilities Board, the Hill Country Youth Orchestra Board, Kerrville’s City Council, Allen ISD’s Board of Trustees, Habitat for Humanity-Kerrville, etc. Glenn has previously served three 8-year terms on the UMHEF Board of Trustees, serving two terms as Board Chair and on numerous committees.

Rev. Lisa Garvin

UMHEF Trustee, Rev. Lisa GarvinRev. Lisa Garvin is the Chaplain and Minister of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas—the first woman to serve in the role. A native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, she previously served in roles at Emory University, for the Bishop’s Cabinet in Mississippi Conference (2008-2012), and as Chaplain for Millsaps College (2005-2008). She graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology and a Juris Master in Human Rights from Emory University School of Law. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in European Studies from Millsaps College. Lisa is an ordained deacon in The United Methodist Church and previously served as a director of its General Board of Church and Society and chaired the board’s Advocacy Work Area. This is Lisa’s first term on the UMHEF Board of Trustees.

Mr. Bill Good

UMHEF trustee, Bill GoodWilliam (Bill) Good is an optical engineer and consultant with more than two decades of experience. He earned a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering Sciences from the University of Colorado, Master of Science in Condensed Matter Physics from Iowa State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Missouri. Bill lives in Boulder, Colorado with his wife and their two children. They attend Mountain View United Methodist Church where Bill serves as Board Chair, Church Council Chair, Lay Leader, SPPRC Chair, and as a member of the Finance Committee. This is his first term on the UMHEF Board of Trustees.
