Scholarship Programs

- General Named Endowed Scholarships (GNE) are traditionally competitive awards that consider GPA, financial need, recommendation letters, and school/community involvement. Amounts vary.
- Among GNE awards are several from endowment funds designated to support students attending the 11 United Methodist-related HBCUs. These scholarships range from $500 to $5,000!
- The UM Dollars for Scholars program begins with a $1,000 sponsorship from a student’s church and is then matched by UMHEF and potentially UM schools and UM conference foundations. The total award may reach up to $4,000.
- Other scholarships aim to support students from diverse backgrounds, ministry efforts, or special needs.
