Scholarship Privacy Policy

The United Methodist Higher Education Foundation (“the Foundation”/ “UMHEF”), maintains the highest level of confidentiality with respect to information provided on your scholarship application(s). Members of the Foundation staff and Scholarship Review Committee, who are chosen from members of our Board of Trustees, are the only individuals who have knowledge of the names of the scholarship applicants. The Foundation may share your scholarship application information with these persons as well as your church, high school, college, and/or university, and, when applicable, United Methodist conference foundations (collectively “third parties”). This limited sharing of your application information is used by the Foundation to help process your application, perform statistical analysis, send correspondence, provide student support, or to arrange for deliveries of scholarship funds and other related materials. Such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except in performance of their services for the Foundation relating to your scholarship application, and all third parties are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.

The Foundation adheres to procedures for saving/filing scholarship applications, both digital and paper, that maintain the highest level of privacy to protect your personal information. UMHEF undergoes annual audits by an outside firm to confirm adherence to these policies.

UMHEF does not sell, trade, or exchange your scholarship application information. Scholarship application visitors to the UMHEF website are not tracked in any way by the Foundation. From time to time, the names of scholarship recipients may be listed in press releases, on social media posts, and on the Foundation website. As indicated on your scholarship application, you have the option of giving UMHEF permission to use your name in Foundation communications. You may opt out at any time by reaching out to our Director of Communications & Public Relations.
