Passing on a Legacy
The Robert & Deborah Fletcher Endowed Scholarship honors the legacy of the Fletchers’ passion for affordable higher education. Created to celebrate Bob’s retirement as President and CEO of UMHEF in 2024, it now also honors his memory following his passing in 2025. While Bob served as a longtime board member then on staff for thirteen years, he and Debbie walked side by side in their support of United Methodists in their home state of Georgia and beyond.
The scholarship was awarded for the first time in 2025 to Sydney Yancey, a Master of Divinity student at Candler School of Theology seeking ordination as a UMC Deacon.
Sydney has a heart to serve in ministry for older adults and people with special needs.
This feature appears in the UMHEF 2025 Annual Review.
