Nurture the Next Generation of Leaders UMHEF Invites Your Generosity
Friends,
Spring reminds us that much of God’s work begins quietly. Seeds are planted, roots take hold, and in time, new life begins to emerge. I see that same quiet, faithful work unfolding in the lives of students connected to United Methodist-related schools: students whose gifts, callings, and leadership have the potential to transform communities, congregations, and the world.
Through scholarships, mentorship, and community, these students are being formed for lives of purpose and service. This work flourishes through the faithful generosity of people like you, creating opportunities for students to grow, lead, and serve.
One inspiring example is Chalondra Jewell, a first-generation college student and the first Black swim captain at her high school. Thanks to a scholarship supported by UMHEF donors, she is now pursuing her degree at Albion College, stepping into leadership on and off campus, and making a difference in her community and beyond. Stories like hers show how donor support creates ripple effects, shaping not only individual students but also the lives they touch.
This Easter season, we celebrate resurrection and hope—the promise that new life is always possible. I believe that same promise is alive in our students. As they are nurtured and equipped, they step into God’s ongoing work of transforming communities and lives.
“And let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap a harvest when we remain faithful.” — Galatians 6:9

Your generosity makes a real difference. UMHEF awards more than $2 million in scholarships annually to nearly 1,000 students representing diverse backgrounds, callings, and career aspirations. Because of you, students are able to pursue their education, deepen their faith, and grow into the leaders God is calling them to be.
I invite you to consider a gift through UMHEF – supporting students today so that their lives may bear fruit for years to come.
With gratitude and hope,
Rev. Cara Stultz Costello
